We selected Vedic Village Resorts based on two criteria: 1) it was en route between Kochi and Wayanad and 2) it had very strong TripAdvisor ratings. We spent two nights at the resort, with the staff providing outstanding service throughout. The two boat trips that we took here were amongst the best activities of our three-week trip through Kerala.
The resort grounds are compact and very attractive. Our two riverfront Queen’s Nest rooms (connected rooms, in a standalone bungalow - could be noisy if parties are not traveling together) were large and comfortable, with river facing porches. We ate all of our meals at the resort. The food was very good. When we pre-ordered dinner the first night, they moved a table from the dining room to the lawn facing the river, adding candlelight for effect. They staff took very good care of us.
We rented the resort’s motorboat for superb sunset and sunrise cruises. The cruises took us down the Periyar River with its colorful boats and working ferries, to the Arabian Sea where we saw a school of dolphins and the fishing nets in action. The cruises also wandered through many backwater canals with scenic greenery. (We enjoyed the canals near Vedic more than our Alleppey backwater cruise because Alleppey was VERY touristic.)
Overall, Vedic was a surprising star on our Kerala itinerary.

Kerala resorts = Vedic
My husband and I really liked Vedic Village. It's right on the river. The cottages are very comfortable, and the staff is great---I mean super! They arranged a morning river boat ride for us that was so much fun. We saw lots of working chinese fishing nets, folks quarrying river sand (illegally, we were told) to make concrete, and active fishing markets. The food at Vedic Village was very good, and if you ask, they will serve it to you at a table at the water's edge.
